Let me begin sharing with you what OIKOS means.
It’s a Greek word and the meaning of it is the complete whole family, encompassing every aspect of the family.
I would say that the best way to understand how Oikos began is to take you back in history and share with you that I’m from Norwegian decent and in case you don’t know Norwegians are very strong homemakers.
So my parents brought that through my childhood, a very strong sense of home and family and unity they were also parents of no compromise which was sometimes difficult, especially now young adult years, for which we only became grateful for as adults.
They have high morals and standards and are God fearing people, and so I’d like to honour them, and respect them, in sharing with you that Oikos is actually, for me a fruit of the seed which they planted, in the raising of us their children.
At the same time it’s important for me to emphasis that our commitment to God has caused us to be able to bear the fruit of that seed and being able to share with you in doing these home video productions, and share with you the vision, and the hope that we have for families that are choosing to unite and to be dedicated and committed in a new way. That is by keeping the children near them and not setting them apart from them and far away from them.
As you heard with the song earlier that that is our commitment, to teach our children the way they should go, so that they will not depart from it. So we would like the “it” to be The Word of God, we would like to see to it that we share with them the knowledge of God, so knowledge of God is more important to us than just general knowledge
