00:00: So are you searching for something and you can’t find it and you don’t quite know where to go? Left, right, up, down. You’re in a little bit of a maze, perhaps, or you’re feeling like in a tangle, you’re not sure which way is up or down. Well, we are trying here at Oikos to fix that or to help you or to make that better in whichever way. So we’re busy working on our search function in Oikos on the website. I believe this is gonna be an ongoing thing. We’re always gonna be working on ways to improve our support and help in service of you. And one such way is to try and help this search function, as in you hop onto the Oikos website and you wanna search for something, no matter what it is. It could be, “I want to find out about writing resistance.” “I need to search and see if Oikos can help me with geography.” I’m just using random words now, and you don’t know how to get that help from Oikos website.

01:00: But what we’re doing is we are trying our utmost to work behind the scenes on the website and link and put correct tags and words and things… I don’t know all the right terminology. What I can tell you is that the people who do know the right terminology who are actually keeping abreast with all of this are working on it to try and make the search function as optimized as they possibly can for you, so that when you go on the website, you can just put in any word in the search field and it’ll generate everything pertaining to that word.

01:35: However, what I have found, ’cause I’ve been playing around with the search myself and I’ve been putting things in that I hear people saying, “What have you got for grade 1?” Now I know that that’s difficult because we don’t talk about grade 1 on the Oikos website because we’ve got the Blue Book for language, and we’ve got Primer and Alpha for maths, and we’ve got KONOS for everything. [chuckle] And so people get confused. They don’t know what material resources, ’cause we’re not just giving you a package and saying, “Right, here’s your grade 1 package and there’s all the resources.” So they need time to try and figure it out and they don’t necessarily know which, as I said, which way is up.

02:08: So we did do videos saying starting steps, step one, two, three, and the bigger picture and the costs. We hope that you can go watch those, and that’ll give you some broader understanding of how it all fits together. But if you’re wanting to search for a specific thing, like special needs or history or games, whichever it might be, what I’ve been doing is I’ve been putting those search words in the search field to see what comes up. So to go back to what I was saying about grade 1, I put “grade 1” in there and then anything that has the numeral 1 will come up on the search. And for now, that’s not exactly what I was trying to achieve, so let’s try again. And so we just keep at it and we try and optimize it, as I said earlier, to just try and make it more and more efficient for you so that it’ll streamline the results so that you will be able to find exactly what you’re looking for as quickly as you can.

03:05: But now, what I want to tell you is that you might put in something and get three or five pages of a result for that thing. And I thought, now we’ve got to try and trim it down so that there’s only one or two pages or one or two things. And then I realized actually there’s five pages ’cause we’ve got so much to give you. [chuckle] There’s so much on that topic for you. So, don’t let it overwhelm you, rather go, “Okay, so this is what they’ve got for me on page 1. Let me go through that, and then I’ll go through page 2.” Because remember, all the time, you’re equipping yourself. Everything you watch and everything you read and everything you see as a parent on the Oikos website that you’re looking around to find something, you might find other things along the way, and we hope that whatever you found along the way is going to add something. It’s going to be a support. It’s going to be maybe a little seed that dropped there that will grow later on, something that you read or saw.

03:58: You know how it is, that’s life. You pick things up from people and you learn and you grow together. So I’m hoping that if you don’t find what you’re looking for straight away, boom, right there at the top of the list for when you put your search thing and then you’ve got to do a little bit more digging and a little bit more looking, I hope you see that is a positive thing. I know how you feel if you don’t see it as a positive thing, because I know how I felt, even now if I go to other websites and I’ve gone on the search field I can’t find just what I’m looking for quickly. I’ll start hunting around and then eventually I just can’t find it and then it ends in a fail. We don’t want that to happen. We want you to be able to find what you’re looking for. So if you can’t, well, then please phone us or email us and say, “I was looking for this, I need help with that, and I did search and I couldn’t find it, so please help me.” And then we’ll help you. We’ll do what we can to help you. If we don’t have it, well, then, we’ll have to tell you we don’t have that, that’s why you couldn’t find it.

04:55: So, that’s why I’m sitting here today talking to you about it and to say to you that the search aspect on Oikos website is there to support you, please use it, please know that we are constantly trying to improve it, and please tell us how we can. If you found something about that search that you have been very frustrated with or just not working for you, tell us. Tell us, please, so that we can then take that and then apply that to our development and see if we can make it better. Okay, so, I do hope your searching ends in a good result and not a fail, and please let me know if it is good or bad, either way, we’d love to hear from you. And for now, thank you for hearing from me and watching this video. Thanks for watching. Bye.
