  • My mother pulled me out the school system – she taught me about being a good wife, mother and homemaker.
  • While I was in the school system I was taught history which was upsetting to me.
  • However, I am passionate about history yet I was sensitive about giving my own children history knowledge about apartheid and slavery etc. It seemed irrelevant to me and too advanced for their maturity level.
  • And then there is KONOS – we have done history lessons which were pertinent to our family, linked in with KONOS.
  • An example is that our children were born in KwaZulu Natal so we spent some time on history relating to KwaZulu Natal.
  • Norwegian history, Scottish history.
  • How much time, how much knowledge. I taught history to be passionate about history not just to gain knowledge. History became about culture and raising the children in character so we would learn about people in history to teach and train character.
  • How is the foundation of history relevant to us? History became part of life for us while we did KONOS.
